Researching Innovative Shipbuilding and Next-Generation Transit Infrastructure for Durable and Efficient Systems

This bill directs the Transportation Research Board to undertake a comprehensive evaluation of innovative hull designs and alternative material construction technologies for waterborne transit systems. The evaluation specifically includes materials such as carbon fiber , hybrids, and other composite fiber-reinforced polymers. The primary objective of this research is to identify methods to significantly enhance the operational fleet performance and payload capacity of these systems. This initiative aims to foster the development of more durable and efficient waterborne transportation infrastructure.
