Amtrak Grant Flexibility Act

This legislation amends title 49, United States Code, to enhance Amtrak's ability to fund critical rail projects. It specifically allows Amtrak to utilize certain federal grant funds to satisfy the non-Federal share requirements for various grant programs, thereby increasing its financial flexibility. For National Infrastructure Project Assistance Grants , Amtrak may use other federal grant funds for project activities, provided its involvement is not solely monetary. Under Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Grants , any federal funds provided to Amtrak can fulfill the non-Federal share. Furthermore, for Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grants , Amtrak can now explicitly use tickets, other revenues, or specific federal grant funds designated for National Network or Northeast Corridor activities to meet matching requirements.
