This bill, known as the TREAT PTSD VA Act , mandates the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to furnish stellate ganglion block (SGB) to eligible veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) . Veterans must be enrolled in the VA patient system and elect to receive SGB after being fully informed of its risks and benefits by a qualified healthcare provider. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs is directed to provide this treatment through either VA medical facilities or authorized community care providers. Furthermore, the bill requires an update to the VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guideline for PTSD within 180 days of enactment to reflect SGB as a therapy option, including its clinical indicators and contraindicators. The provision of SGB to veterans will commence 180 days after the bill's enactment.
