Campus Lifeline Act of 2026

This bill seeks to enhance youth suicide prevention and intervention efforts by amending the Public Health Service Act. It specifically focuses on empowering student-led campus groups , such as athletic teams and mental health clubs, to educate their peers on mental health, reduce stigma, and effectively intervene when students exhibit warning signs of mental health or substance use disorders. Furthermore, the legislation strengthens awareness strategies for the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline . It mandates an awareness initiative and ongoing public outreach, while also encouraging states and institutions of higher education to list the 988 hotline on newly issued identification cards. The bill also requires the Secretary to consult with other relevant departments, including Education and Transportation, when developing plans for these awareness activities.
