Foreign Service Age and Integration and Reform (FAIR) Act of 2026

This bill seeks to modify the mandatory retirement age for individuals serving in the Foreign Service. Its primary objective is to align this retirement age with the current Social Security Full Retirement Age, reflecting contemporary retirement standards. The legislation specifically amends the Foreign Service Act of 1980 to change the mandatory retirement age from 65. Under the proposed change, the new mandatory retirement age would be age 67 or the applicable retirement age as defined by the Social Security Act, whichever of these two is greater.
