DPA Specialized Staffing Act

This legislation, known as the DPA Specialized Staffing Act , creates a new special hiring authority for federal agencies. Its primary purpose is to streamline the process of bringing in specialized talent to support critical functions under the Defense Production Act of 1950. Specifically, agencies represented on the Defense Production Act Committee are authorized to directly appoint subject matter experts to positions within the competitive service. This authority allows for appointments without adhering to certain standard federal hiring provisions, enabling a faster recruitment process. These experts will be exclusively tasked with identifying, soliciting, evaluating, or approving activities that may receive financial assistance under the Act, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Defense Production Act programs.
