Precision Brain Health Research Act of 2026

This legislation, titled the Precision Brain Health Research Act of 2026, significantly modifies the Department of Veterans Affairs' Precision Medicine for Veterans Initiative. It expands the initiative's focus to include repetitive low-level blast exposure and dementia , aiming to broaden the understanding and treatment of these critical conditions affecting veterans. It also requires quality improvement studies for diagnosis and care, and directs the VA to engage the National Academies for biomarker validation, with biennial reports. To support these efforts, the legislation authorizes an annual appropriation of $5,000,000 for the initiative from FY2025 through FY2030, alongside regular VA reports to Congress on overall progress and recommendations.
