Empowering Women in Agriculture Act

This bill amends the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act of 1990 to significantly expand support for socially disadvantaged women farmers and ranchers . It redefines the term "socially disadvantaged" to explicitly include prejudice based on gender , broadening the scope of individuals eligible for assistance. Furthermore, the legislation designates women's nonprofit organizations as eligible entities to receive outreach and assistance funding. It also extends the authorization for relevant programs from fiscal year 2023 through fiscal year 2031 , ensuring long-term support. A key provision mandates that not less than 10 percent of the amounts made available for outreach and assistance programs must be specifically used to address the needs of women who are socially disadvantaged farmers or ranchers.
