Stop Secret Counseling of Students Act

This bill, known as the "Stop Secret Counseling of Students Act," seeks to amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 by imposing new restrictions on public elementary and secondary schools. Its primary purpose is to prohibit federal funds under the Act from being allocated to schools that provide counseling, therapy, or guidance related to gender identity to students under 18 years of age. Specifically, the bill mandates that school employees or contractors may not offer gender identity-related services, including assistance with gender support or social transition plans, to minor students. Furthermore, it explicitly forbids school personnel from encouraging students to conceal information about their gender identity or social transition from their parents, or from providing guidance on how to do so. To ensure compliance, the legislation establishes a private right of action , allowing parents to file a civil lawsuit in federal court for injunctive relief against schools that violate these requirements.
