AWRC Act of 2025

This bill, known as the Advancing Water Research and Collaboration Act of 2025, reauthorizes the water resources research and technology institutes program under the Water Resources Research Act of 1984. It authorizes an appropriation of $16,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2026 through 2029 to support these vital research efforts. A significant amendment expands the program's congressional declaration of purpose to explicitly include collaboration with the growing artificial intelligence industry in water-related research. Furthermore, the bill mandates that 20 percent of the authorized funds each fiscal year be specifically allocated to research focusing on water problems of a regional or interstate nature, or those identified by Congress or jointly by the Secretary and institutes.
