Parity for Tribal Educators Act

This legislation aims to provide employees of tribally controlled schools with eligibility for the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) pension and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) . This measure seeks to align their retirement benefits with those available to federal employees. Under the bill, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) is mandated to cover the government's contributions for these retirement programs. Importantly, covered employees, defined as those working in tribally controlled schools operating under specific federal contracts or grants, retain the option to opt out of this coverage if they choose.
