Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act and Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act District of Columbia Equality Act of 2026

United States119th CongressHR-7629House of Representatives
Updated: Feb 20, 2026

Summary

This bill seeks to amend the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act and the Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act to treat the District of Columbia as a State for the purposes of these acts. It redefines the term "State" in both pieces of legislation to explicitly include the District of Columbia. This change removes existing language that previously treated the District of Columbia separately in funding allocation formulas. As a result, the District of Columbia will become eligible for federal funding and programs for wildlife and sport fish restoration on an equal footing with the several states, rather than receiving a distinct, often smaller, allocation.
