VALOR Act

The Veterans Assistance for Loan Origination Relief Act, or VALOR Act, aims to amend title 38, United States Code, to provide financial relief to veterans concerning housing loan fees. It clarifies that any fee collected from a veteran in violation of existing regulations for a housing loan guaranteed by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall be treated as an overpayment , requiring the Secretary to either refund the full amount directly to the veteran or credit it to their loan. Furthermore, for veterans who pay a housing loan fee while a disability compensation claim is pending, the bill mandates that if their claim is subsequently approved and they begin receiving disability compensation, the Secretary must reimburse them for the fee amount, ensuring they are not financially disadvantaged while awaiting a decision on their disability status.
