To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide coverage for wigs as durable medical equipment under the Medicare program, and for other purposes.

It amends Section 1861(n) of the Social Security Act to include these items, provided they are certified as medically necessary. For coverage, a dermatologist, oncologist, or attending physician must provide written certification that the cranial prostheses are needed for a proposed course of rehabilitative treatment or for hair loss resulting from specific health conditions. These conditions include autoimmune diseases, cancer, or chemotherapy . A conforming amendment to Section 1862(a)(1) clarifies that cranial prostheses not certified in this manner would not be covered, ensuring proper medical oversight for eligibility.
