This bill authorizes the Attorney General to provide grants to one or more nonprofit or tribal organizations to establish a national training and technical assistance center . The center's primary function will be to promote and support the widespread adoption of lethality assessment programs by states, local governments, and Indian Tribes, with the ultimate goal of reducing domestic violence-related homicides. A lethality assessment program is defined as one that rapidly connects domestic violence victims to community-based services, helps first responders identify high-risk situations, and uses evidence-based tools to identify victims at high risk of serious injury or death. To be eligible for a grant, applicants must demonstrate national experience in developing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating such programs. The bill authorizes an appropriation of $5,000,000 for each fiscal year starting in 2026 to fund this initiative.
