The Water Project Navigators Act establishes a program within the Department of the Interior to support the development and implementation of multi-benefit water projects in eligible states. This program authorizes the Secretary to award grants or cooperative agreements to eligible entities to fund multi-benefit water project navigator positions . These projects aim to enhance community resilience to climate impacts on water supplies, improve water quality, and provide ecosystem benefits. The program prioritizes applications from Indian Tribes, disadvantaged communities, and rural communities , particularly those with limited resources and capacity. Navigators funded under the program will assist with crucial activities such as grant writing, project management, and technical assistance , including feasibility and design. The federal share for these activities can cover up to 75% of costs, with potential waivers for certain entities facing financial hardship. Congress authorizes $15,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2032 to carry out this Act.
