Produce Prescriptions for Veterans Act

This bill amends Title 38 of the United States Code to authorize the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide produce prescriptions as a recognized medical service. This new provision aims to address diet-related chronic conditions among veterans by improving their access to nutritious food. A "produce prescription" is defined as a service where the VA provides or refers a veteran to receive a benefit, such as a voucher or debit card , specifically for the purchase of fruits and vegetables. This program targets veterans who are both food-insecure and suffer from a diet-related chronic condition, with the goal of improving their health outcomes.
