Full Cost of War Act

This legislation aims to ensure that the financial obligations to veterans are considered upfront when the nation commits to military action. It mandates that any future authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) or declaration of war must explicitly include an authorization of appropriations for the Department of Veterans Affairs. This required funding is designated to cover essential services such as medical care , disability compensation , and other earned benefits for veterans whose needs arise from activities conducted under that authorization or declaration. The specific sums necessary for these benefits will be jointly determined by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of the long-term costs associated with military engagement.
