District of Columbia Courts and Public Defender Service Employment Non-Discrimination Act

This bill extends the protections of the District of Columbia Human Rights Act of 1977 to employees of the District of Columbia courts and the District of Columbia Public Defender Service. It specifically mandates that nonjudicial employees of the D.C. courts and all employees of the Public Defender Service are considered "employees" under the Act, and their respective organizations are deemed "employers" for the purposes of anti-discrimination protections. A key provision of this legislation is the exclusion of complaints filed against these entities from the separate administrative procedures typically established for complaints against other District government agencies. The amendments made by this Act will apply to all complaints filed on or after its enactment date, ensuring immediate application of these new protections.
