VA Insurance Improvement Act

This bill, known as the "VA Insurance Improvement Act," significantly expands the Veterans Life Insurance Program by removing the requirement for a service-connected disability and making it available to any veteran who applies before reaching 81 years of age. This change broadens access to life insurance for a wider population of veterans. Furthermore, the legislation ensures that members of the Space Force are included in the definition of "uniformed services" for eligibility under the Traumatic Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) program. It also establishes a clear process for the Department of Veterans Affairs to reimburse its administrative costs for the Veterans' Mortgage Life Insurance program from dedicated insurance appropriation accounts.
