Increasing Baseline Updates Act

This legislation aims to enhance the transparency and frequency of budget data provided to Congress by amending existing statutes. It requires the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Director to submit at least two updates to its baseline report annually to the House and Senate Budget Committees, unless otherwise directed. Crucially, at least one of these updates must include economic data used in its calculations, providing a more comprehensive financial picture. Additionally, the bill amends title 31 of the U.S. Code, mandating that the President , to the extent practicable, submit technical budget data to Congress by February 1st each calendar year. This submission must include up-to-date estimates for current and prior year data, as well as credit reestimates for the current year. These provisions collectively seek to provide lawmakers with more timely and detailed financial information for budgetary oversight and decision-making.
