This bill primarily seeks to provide proper recognition and benefits for members of the Armed Forces who served in Female Cultural Support Teams (CSTs) during a specified period. It mandates that the Secretary concerned include this "covered service" in military service records and in the computation of retired pay for eligible individuals within one year of enactment. For veterans' benefits, the bill directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to treat claims arising from covered service as if they resulted from engagement in combat with the enemy . This includes determining service connection for disabilities or death and improving training for employees processing such claims. The Department of Veterans Affairs is also required to conduct outreach to inform CST members and their survivors about their eligibility to submit supplemental claims. Furthermore, the legislation requires the Department of Defense, in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, to conduct a study and submit a report to Congress. This study will identify other groups of service members whose service is substantially similar to CSTs but is not adequately reflected in their military records. Finally, the bill includes a minor amendment to extend the expiration date for certain housing loan fees from November 15, 2031, to December 3, 2031.
