Supporting Troops’ Access to Recognition Services Act

This bill requires the Department of Defense to establish and maintain facilities for processing identification and eligibility systems for members of the Armed Forces and their eligible dependents. The primary goal is to improve access to essential services related to military identification and benefits. Specifically, the legislation mandates that a covered identification and eligibility facility be located within 30 miles of any metropolitan statistical area with a population of 300,000 or more. These facilities must be open and staffed by at least one qualified person for a minimum of two days per week during regular business hours. The services provided include assistance with Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) matters, such as the issuance of identification cards.
