This legislation aims to promote the use of the Classic Learning Test (CLT) within specific federal educational settings. It mandates that the Secretary of Defense ensure all military service academies accept CLT scores as an alternative to the SAT or ACT for admission applications, providing applicants with an additional standardized testing option. The bill also extends its reach to federally-run secondary schools. It requires the Director of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) to administer the CLT to all eleventh-grade students in schools under its operation. Concurrently, the Director of the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) must ensure that schools funded or operated by the BIE also administer the CLT to their eleventh-grade students, thereby standardizing testing across these institutions.
Referred to the Committee on Armed Services, and in addition to the Committee on Education and Workforce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
