Beef Origin Labeling Accountability Act

This legislation mandates the United States Trade Representative (USTR), in collaboration with the Secretary of Agriculture , to identify a method for re-establishing mandatory country of origin labeling for beef. This reinstatement must strictly adhere to all applicable World Trade Organization (WTO) rules to avoid past trade disputes. The bill requires the USTR to submit regular reports to relevant congressional committees, detailing progress and offering legislative recommendations for implementing the labeling requirements. Furthermore, it directs the USTR to engage in consultations with counterparts in Canada and Mexico . These consultations aim to resolve specific WTO dispute settlements (DS384 and DS386) that arose from previous U.S. country of origin labeling requirements for beef.
