Grandfamily Housing Act of 2025

This legislation directs the Secretary to establish a new grant program within 180 days for owners of intergenerational dwelling units . The program aims to support households where grandparents or other relatives are raising children by providing financial assistance for various services and facility improvements. Grant recipients must apply and use the funds to benefit intergenerational families residing in or near their properties. Grant amounts can be used to employ service coordinators who offer onsite services such as tutoring, healthcare, and afterschool care, coordinating with local kinship navigator programs. Funds also support planning and providing services, facilitating outreach to intergenerational families, and retrofitting existing spaces for these programs. The bill authorizes necessary appropriations for fiscal years 2026 through 2030 and mandates a report on the program's effectiveness within two years.
