The Artificial Intelligence Wisdom for Innovative Small Enterprises Act, or AI-WISE Act, mandates the Small Business Administration (SBA) to establish and maintain comprehensive educational resources and modules on artificial intelligence (AI) tools for small business concerns. These resources will be made publicly available on an existing online learning platform, aiming to equip small businesses with the knowledge needed to critically evaluate and utilize AI effectively and safely. The educational content will cover how AI models work, their limitations, and how to identify AI-generated outputs, alongside guidance on staying updated with AI developments and understanding applicable policies. It will also provide best practices for coordinating with third-party AI providers, identifying and managing AI risks, ensuring user privacy, and retaining human involvement in important decisions, ultimately helping businesses determine suitable tasks for AI and evaluate tools for adoption. To ensure accuracy and currency, the SBA Administrator must consult with the Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and an Advisory Working Group , comprising AI experts and small business outreach specialists. The Administrator will also coordinate with resource partners to disseminate information and allow them to develop specialized training. All information must be actionable, comprehensible, and avoid preference for specific AI models or entities, with the resources to be established within 180 days of enactment.
