This bill aims to enhance the financial support for school meal programs by amending the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966. Its primary objective is to increase the federal reimbursement rates provided to school food authorities for meals served to students. Specifically, the legislation introduces a non-performance-based additional reimbursement of 45 cents for each school lunch served, beginning November 1, 2025. Concurrently, it establishes an additional 28 cents reimbursement for every school breakfast, applicable to all categories of meals including free, reduced-price, and full-price breakfasts, also effective November 1, 2025. Both of these new reimbursement amounts are slated for annual adjustment starting July 1, 2026, to account for inflation and other factors.
