FARM SAFE Act

This bill aims to guarantee the uninterrupted operation of agricultural disaster assistance programs during any lapse in federal appropriations. It achieves this by mandating that Department of Agriculture employees essential for these programs be treated as excepted employees, requiring them to continue working during a government shutdown.

Furthermore, these designated employees would be safeguarded from being removed under a reduction in force during such periods. The bill specifically defines agricultural disaster assistance programs to include those under Title IV of the Agricultural Credit Act of 1978, Section 1501 of the Agricultural Act of 2014, and other disaster aid programs determined by the Secretary of Agriculture.
