The updated base acres will be determined by calculating a five-year average of acreage planted or prevented from being planted for each covered commodity during the 2020 through 2024 crop years. This formula ensures proportionality, where the updated base acres for a specific commodity are based on its share of the total covered commodity acreage over that period. The bill also eliminates the concept of generic base acres and makes conforming amendments to related payment yield and payment acreage provisions.
