The "Northern Border Security Enhancement and Review Act" amends the existing Northern Border Security Review Act to strengthen oversight and strategic planning for the U.S. northern border. It specifically modifies the requirement for the northern border threat analysis , mandating that it be updated by September 2, 2026, and biennially thereafter . This ensures a regular and current assessment of threats along the border. Following each threat analysis submission, the bill requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to update the Department's northern border strategy within 90 days, or provide notification if no update is deemed necessary. Furthermore, the Secretary must provide classified briefings to appropriate congressional committees within 30 days of each threat analysis submission. The legislation also directs the Secretary to develop performance measures for Air and Marine Operations to assess their effectiveness in securing the northern border between ports of entry.
