Mentoring and Supporting Families Act

This legislation proposes to amend Section 2008 of the Social Security Act to enhance the health profession opportunity grant program . The bill mandates that the Secretary give preference to grant applications that include opportunities for mentoring, peer support, and career coaching as part of the case management plan. Additionally, preference will be given to applications that commit to providing project participants with a monthly cash stipend or wage supplement . These support services, including career coaching, with options for peer support and mentoring, are designed to be offered on an ongoing basis throughout a participant's career pathway, helping to develop soft skills and social capital.
