Tribal Healthcare Careers Act

This legislation, known as the Tribal Healthcare Careers Act, aims to enhance opportunities for Indian populations within the existing health profession opportunity grant program under the Social Security Act. The bill mandates that 15 percent of the funds for this grant program each fiscal year be reserved specifically for Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and Tribal Colleges and Universities. Furthermore, it guarantees the award of at least 10 grants to these eligible entities, provided there are a sufficient number of qualifying applications. These provisions are set to take effect on October 1, 2025, strengthening the healthcare workforce in Indian Country.
