The "Gun Suicide Prevention Act of 2025" proposes to mandate a specific label on all firearms or their packaging to help prevent gun-related suicides. This bill would make it unlawful for manufacturers or retailers to sell any firearm that does not include this required labeling. The label must be clear and conspicuous , appearing on the firearm, its packaging, or descriptive materials, and must be in both English and Spanish . It is required to display the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number, 988, along with a specific warning message and a yellow triangle containing an exclamation mark. Any violation of these labeling requirements would be treated as a breach of the Consumer Product Safety Act , leading to applicable penalties. This Act is scheduled to become effective two years following its enactment.
