ACCESS Act

This bill, known as the Access to Career Counseling for Every Secondary Student Act or the ACCESS Act , aims to significantly enhance public awareness and access to information regarding skilled trade programs by amending the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) . It mandates that statewide activities under WIOA include carrying out public awareness campaigns and public service announcements , utilizing various media like social media. These campaigns will promote career and technical education programs and community-based initiatives that prepare youth for high-skill, high-wage, or in-demand industry sectors , specifically highlighting skilled trades . Additionally, the legislation revises local requirements under WIOA to ensure that services provide comprehensive labor market and employment information. This includes career awareness, career counseling, and career exploration services focused on high-skill, high-wage, or in-demand professions, such as skilled trades , available in the local area.
