Peter J. McGuire Labor Day Landmark Act

The "Peter J. McGuire Labor Day Landmark Act" designates the Peter J. McGuire Memorial and Peter J. McGuire Gravesite, located in Pennsauken, New Jersey, as the Peter J. McGuire Memorial National Commemorative Site . This designation honors Peter J. McGuire, a pivotal figure in American labor history who co-founded the American Federation of Labor, established the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, and is credited with proposing Labor Day. The site includes a memorial with a statue of McGuire and a colonnade, alongside his gravesite, which have been recognized for their historical significance and integrity. The bill clarifies that this commemorative site will not be considered a unit of the National Park System, and the designation will not restrict any actions by property owners. To support the site, the Secretary is authorized to enter into cooperative agreements with public or private entities. These agreements can facilitate the provision of educational and interpretive facilities and programs for the public, with the Secretary also empowered to offer technical and financial assistance for these initiatives.
