AUKUS Improvement Act of 2025

The AUKUS Improvement Act of 2025 seeks to strengthen the AUKUS partnership by significantly easing restrictions on defense trade and technology sharing among the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. It amends the Arms Export Control Act to provide greater flexibility for the transfer of defense articles. Specifically, the bill allows for the reexport, retransfer, or temporary import of defense articles exclusively between Australia, the United Kingdom, or eligible entities, without requiring the President's consent for such transfers. It also authorizes intra-company, intra-organizational, and intra-governmental transfers of these defense articles and services, including for dual or third-country nationals who meet specific regulatory criteria. Furthermore, the legislation eliminates the certification requirement for commercial technical assistance or manufacturing license agreements when they involve Australia or the United Kingdom, thereby simplifying the process for defense cooperation.
