Written Informed Consent Act

This bill mandates the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to expand the scope of an existing Veterans Health Administration (VHA) directive concerning informed consent. Specifically, it requires an update to VHA Directive 1005 , which currently addresses informed consent for long-term opioid therapy for pain. The updated directive will extend the requirement for informed consent to several additional categories of medications. These include Antipsychotics Stimulants Antidepressants Anxiolytics Narcotics , ensuring veterans provide explicit consent before receiving these treatments.
