This bill mandates that all cut flowers and cut greens officially displayed in public areas of buildings belonging to the Executive Office of the President , the Department of State , or the Department of Defense must be produced within the United States. This requirement aims to support domestic agriculture by ensuring federal displays feature American-grown products. The Act will become effective one year after its enactment. The legislation clarifies that this limitation does not apply to any cut flower or cut green used by a Federal officer or employee for personal display. It broadly defines "produced in the United States" to include growth in any of the several States, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories or possessions, and areas under the jurisdiction of federally recognized Indian Tribes.
Referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in addition to the Committees on Foreign Affairs, and Armed Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
