Inspector General Access Act of 2025

The "Inspector General Access Act of 2025" aims to enhance the oversight capabilities of the Department of Justice Inspector General (DOJ IG) by amending Section 413 of title 5, United States Code, which governs the IG's investigative powers. Specifically, the bill strikes subsection (b)(3) , a provision that previously imposed limitations on the types of allegations the DOJ IG could investigate. This amendment effectively removes an existing exemption, thereby expanding the Inspector General's jurisdiction to cover matters that were previously excluded from their investigative authority. Consequently, the DOJ IG will have broader access and power to conduct investigations into Department of Justice personnel and activities, strengthening accountability within the department.
