This bill amends Title 5 of the U.S. Code to ensure federal employees and former employees receive timely access to their official personnel record files. It mandates that federal agencies provide current employees with an electronic and physical copy of their file within seven days of a request. For employees separating on or after the bill's enactment, agencies must also provide these files within seven days of separation. Individuals who separated before enactment can request their files from the Director of the Office of Personnel Management , who must provide them within 21 days , ensuring comprehensive access for all federal employees, past and present.
