This bill amends title 18, United States Code, specifically Section 666, to clarify and expand the offense of illegal gratuities concerning programs receiving Federal funds. It establishes a new offense for individuals who knowingly and purposefully give or receive anything of value of $1,000 or more to or from an agent of an organization or government that receives federal funds, when such gratuity is for an official act connected to transactions of $5,000 or more . This new offense carries a penalty of up to 2 years imprisonment, a fine, or both. Additionally, the bill increases the maximum imprisonment for the existing illegal gratuity offense under the same section from 10 years to 15 years, strengthening accountability for improper financial inducements related to federally funded programs.
