Respectful Treatment of Unborn Remains Act of 2025

This bill establishes a federal prohibition against abortion providers causing fetal remains or associated medical waste to be placed into publicly owned water systems . It amends the Public Health Service Act to implement this new restriction, defining "fetal remains" to include aborted fetus remains and other medical waste. Violators of this prohibition would face severe penalties, including fines, imprisonment for up to five years, or both. The legislation explicitly states that the individual upon whom an abortion is performed will not be held liable for any related offense. Additionally, this act does not preempt any stricter State or local requirements concerning the disposal of fetal remains.
