This bill directs the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct a comprehensive study on the readiness of U.S. airports for high-speed air travel. In consultation with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and other relevant stakeholders, the FAA will assess the capability of large hub airports , including the nation's largest, to accommodate supersonic and hypersonic aircraft. The study will evaluate critical factors such as runway length and structural integrity, ground equipment compatibility, and air traffic control systems and procedures. It will also examine environmental regulations, particularly those concerning noise pollution and emissions, and analyze the potential economic benefits and challenges of integrating high-speed aircraft into airport operations. Within one year of the bill's enactment, the FAA Administrator must submit a report to the appropriate congressional committees. This report will detail the study's findings and provide recommendations for necessary policy changes and infrastructure improvements , complete with estimated costs and a projected timeline for their implementation, to facilitate the future of high-speed air travel.
