This bill amends the Public Health Service Act to establish a new grant program, authorizing the Secretary of Health and Human Services to award funds for community paramedicine programs in rural areas . These programs utilize specially trained paramedics to deliver mobile-integrated health care, aiming to address health problems, minimize emergency resource use, and enhance access to primary care for medically underserved populations. Eligible entities, including emergency medical services agencies , States, Indian Tribes, counties, or municipalities, can apply for these grants. Funds may be used for hiring and retaining personnel , reimbursing medical oversight costs , purchasing necessary equipment , and supporting certification, recertification, and public outreach . An advisory board will assist the Secretary in program implementation and application review. Individual grants can reach up to $750,000 , and joint applications up to $1,500,000 , with a maximum duration of five years. Grantees must report on activities, and administrative costs are capped. Significantly, 15 percent of the allocated funds are reserved for applicants proposing to serve Tribal communities , ensuring targeted support for these populations.
