Preserving Great Americans’ Legacies Act of 2025

This bill prohibits the Secretary of the Navy from changing the names of certain naval vessels. It specifically prevents the alteration of names for any vessel that, as of the Act's enactment date, is named after one of eight designated individuals. The individuals whose legacies are protected under this Act include Cesar Chavez , Medgar Evers , Ruth Bader Ginsburg , Dolores Huerta , Thurgood Marshall , Harvey Milk , Lucy Stone , and Harriet Tubman . This measure ensures that the contributions of these prominent figures continue to be recognized and honored within the United States Navy's fleet.
