This legislation, known as the "FORCE-FIT Act," mandates the Secretary of Defense to implement a five-year pilot program under the TRICARE program. This initiative will provide continuous glucose monitoring technology to specific active-duty members of the Armed Forces. The program's primary objective is to evaluate how real-time metabolic health tracking and early intervention can enhance the health of these members and bolster overall force readiness . Participation in the pilot program is required for members identified as Partially Medically Ready or Not Medically Ready, particularly those diagnosed with prediabetes, non-insulin-dependent type 2 diabetes, a history of gestational diabetes, or who are overweight or obese. The bill strictly limits the use of collected health information to program administration, healthcare provision, and the Individual Medical Readiness program, explicitly prohibiting its use for medical discharges . Furthermore, nongovernmental entities involved are forbidden from retaining or using this health data beyond authorized purposes. The Secretary must also provide metabolic health education and services, along with training for military medical professionals, and submit comprehensive reports on the program's efficacy and impact on force readiness.
