Saving Students with Software Act

This bill mandates the Secretary of Education to establish a grant program within 180 days of its enactment. This program will award grants to States to assist with the costs of implementing suicide prevention software for use in elementary and secondary schools. To be eligible for these grants, States must submit an application to the Secretary of Education. The legislation defines suicide prevention software as a tool installed on school-provided devices that can alert school personnel if a student types words or phrases relating to self-harm or suicide. This measure is intended to facilitate early intervention and support for students who may be at risk.
