Updated: May 13, 2025

Summary

This bill, known as the "Harvest to Hue Act," seeks to enhance the capacity of United States farmers to produce natural color additives from agricultural goods for the food supply. Congress recognizes that U.S. agriculture can play a vital role in meeting consumer demand for natural products, thereby broadening markets for farmers and ensuring food resource integrity. To achieve this, the Secretary of Agriculture is directed to facilitate efforts within the Department to grow and harvest these goods. The Secretary must also promote collaboration among federal agencies, producers, and food industry partners, and focus research initiatives to support agriculture's contribution to natural color additive resources.
