Service Member Residence Protection Act

This bill proposes to amend the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) to provide enhanced protection for real property owned by members of the uniformed services. Its primary purpose is to preempt any state laws that establish squatter's rights, specifically when such rights pertain to property owned by a servicemember. Under the proposed amendment, state squatter's rights laws would not apply to premises owned by a servicemember if a squatter occupies the property during that servicemember's period of military service. This measure ensures that military personnel are not disadvantaged by unauthorized occupants while they are fulfilling their service obligations.
